Should I buy a wool or a fleece horse rug? It is easily one of the most asked questions for horse owners entering cold conditions.
For some, there is no better rug than a wool. It’s natural fibres make for increased breathability while maintaining warmth. With varying thicknesses available it is easier to find the ideal rug.
Though fleece is not a natural fibre, it has a place in your tack room. Fleece is an excellent drying rug, with wicking qualities that make it perfect post wash. Not to mention we have heard that freshly clipped horses prefer the ‘soft touch’ feel of fleece.
There are arguments on both sides about the use and effectiveness of each of them depending on the conditions.
